Mark Anderson

Drive South would like to officially welcome Mark Anderson to the band. Mark will be joining us on Friday, April 30th at the Hastings Golf Glub / Hastings Public House for his first full night of music with us. Mark has been stopping in at the shows in Hastings over the past year and sitting in with us, so some of you may already know him. For those who do not.....here is a little bit about him.

A musical journey started when an old violin from the attic was dusted off and handed to a curious boy. He was 12 years old. He attempted to make music, but it was closer to cats screaming. While the sounds coming out of that instrument were enough to wake the dead, or maybe scare them, it eventually got better. Middle and High school musical opportunities presented themselves in the classical music spectrum, ranging from summer music camps to church musicals to weekly rehearsals with the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies. At age 15, a mandolin was dropped off with the school orchestra director for anyone interested in exploring another stringed instrument. The world of bluegrass and folk music had been opened; another avenue to create music had been found.

Mark has been in some bands that you likely have never heard of, such as Mountain Rag, Grassfire, Men in Sweaters, and The Prairie Boys. He has also been a member of the UW-Eau Claire Symphony and Chamber Orchestras and the 3M Orchestra. He has performed regularly at church services, weddings, funerals, birthdays, barn dances, wine tastings, and for family and friends.

He is eager to present a new take on some old favorites. And meet some new friends along the way. The musical journey continues, and Drive South will take him to places not yet discovered.

So please take a moment and welcome Mark into the Drive South family. And get ready for some madolin and violin/fiddle. Because he is ready to cut loose.
